Normally, a one or two man inspection team can handle simple commercial complexes, such as a warehouse, or a one story shopping center. For more complex structures we can pull together professional engineers, electrical engineers, civil engineers and environmentalists. For such commercial complexes there is usually a free pre-inspection walkthrough to determine the professionals that will be needed to complete an inspection, the scope of which is normally negotiated with a buyer or a possible tenant.

Short Resume for Jack Reilly – January 2025

With over 45 years of experience in home and commercial building inspections, Jack Reilly has been a key figure in the field since 1978. He specializes in rehab, expert witness work and examination of older homes. He has worked extensively in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Baltimore. Jack has conducted more than 17,500 inspections and continues to lend his expertise to complex commercial projects and historic properties.

1978 – Present
- Rehabilitation Expert: more than four decades of designing and obtaining permits for gut-rehabs.
- Consultant: Helped develop HUD’s first training manual for municipal rehab specialists in 1979.
- Trainer: Lectured on rehab techniques across various U.S. cities and led seminars for the Council of Governments in Washington, D.C. to train supervisors of rehab specialists.
- ASHI Volunteer: Served as president of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) and director-at-large on the International Board of Directors. Authored a successful proposal for a mutual assistance agreement between the EPA and ASHI with a grant from the EPA.
Media Appearances:
- Featured expert on residential construction on HDTV’s “House Detective” and “Location, Location, Location” series.
Lecturing and Speaking:
- Lectured to more than 2,500 individuals through ASHI and the Property Inspectors Training Institute.
- Speaker for the Eighth International Symposium on Nondestructive Testing of Wood in 1991, sponsored by the Washington State University Graduate School of Engineering and the USDA Forrest Products Laboratory.
- Frequent speaker before Maryland Legislature committees on residential lead paint and home inspections.
Significant Projects:
- Historic Inspections and Large Property Inspections: With a team of engineers, he has taken part in inspecting Baltimore’s Lexington Market, the Belmead-on-the-James Plantation in Virginia, and the Geddef Piper Museum in Chestertown, Maryland. He has also led teams of engineers on inspections of larger properties, such as condominium associations and building complexes, such as the embassies of India, Qatar, Bahrain, and the Embassy of Trinidad and Tobago in Washington, D.C.
